"Lost and Found in Armenia"

It has been a while since there was anything cultural that shed a  positive light on Armenia. Don’t worry, your prayers will soon be answered. For the first time there will be an all Armenian financed motion picture that will star the likes of Jamie Kennedy and Angela Sarafyan. The movie is titled “ Lost and Found in Armenia” and is set to premiere in United States around Christmas. Moreover, the film features bilingual dialogue and is directed by Gor Kirakosian and produced by Maral Djerejian (Sideways).
The plot revolves around the son of a U.S. Senator who goes missing while on vacation in Turkey. After a facing a few challenges along the way, he finds himself in a small village in Armenia where he meets a young woman who joins him in his escapades.
It is finally good to see some attention revolving around Armenia and Armenian issues that doesn't necessarily involve the Armenian Genocide. There are many talented Armenians in the entertainment field and it's wonderful to see how far we've come not only as a race, but as a nation:

“There are many talented actors in Armenia, there are many experts but they lack the experience of working with modern cinema. The problem will be solved if people engage in film production in Armenia,” said Djerejian, adding that "a single film could greatly promote general knowledge about Armenia worldwide".

Enjoy!

  1. I think it's great to see an Armenian movie not surrounding the genocide, just like how I would like to see a movie about Jewish history not focused on the Holocaust. It's a bigger risk to do those kinds of movies that don't center around the main issue with a certain ethnicity/religion, but I'm finally glad to see it's starting to happen in at least one area.

  2. My friend showed the preview for this movie. Growing up around Armenians made this preview even more hilarious. I can't wait to watch this movie. I agree with thenewestprince when he says that he is glad to see an Armenian movie portraying a positive side on the culture. Armenians have such a great sense of humor, great culture, and certain things that they only do that make them unique. I am excited about the movie and I am genuinely interested in your blog all you write. Thanks for expressing yourself and sharing. Great blog!

  3. This is great! Like the comments above said, it is great to see an Armenian movie that is not revolved around a genocide plot line. I think its very important for this movie to be released in America so we can get a sense of the Armenian culture without having to discuss its tragic history. I wish more movies like this about other cultures would come out so we can get a glimpse into some of the other lesser known parts of the world.

  4. I loved the preview and cant wait to see the film. Being Armenian I can definitely relate to the film. I am glad that for once an Armenian film is made not solely around the genocide. It will also promote the Armenian culture to those who are not familiar or even aware of it. I am proud of Gor Kirakosian's and Maral Djerejian's film and hope to see it soon.
